According to airport sources, an aircraft bound for Dubai with nearly 150 passengers on board reported a problem with one of its engines shortly after lifting off from Tribhuvan International Airport on Monday.
The FlyDubai aircraft that was en route to Dubai returned to Dharke after a problem was reported with one of its engines, according to sources.
Upon determining that all indicators are normal, the pilots later informed the control tower that they will continue.
“The aircraft turned off its engine for a period of time after encountering the problem, and is now en route to its destination without landing at Kathmandu airport,” the Deputy Director of Nepal’s Civil Aviation Authority was quoted as saying by a private television news outlet.
“A bird struck the FlyDubai flight FZ 576 during departure from Kathmandu. After following standard procedure, the flight will proceed to Dubai and is scheduled to land at 00:14 local time, according to an airline spokesperson.
At 9:20 a.m., the aircraft lifted off from Tribhuvan International Airport.
Sudan Kirati, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, posted on his Facebook account that the FlyDubai flight was en route to its destination without incident and urged everyone not to fret.
Earlier reports indicated that preparations are being made for an emergency landing of a Boeing 737-800 at this airport.
