In the last two months, multiple regions of India have reported a large number of flu cases characterised by protracted illness and lingering cough. After fighting the Covid pandemic for two years, the rise in flu cases has scared people.

What we know about the rise in Flu cases is as follows:

1. People all over India are getting sick with fever and flu at a high rate. The Influenza A subtype H3N2 virus is to blame, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

2. More people are hospitalised because of the H3N2 virus than any other subtype. Experts say it has been widely used in India for the past two or three months.

3. The most common signs are a fever and a cough that won’t go away. In recent cases, a lot of patients are complaining that their symptoms last for a long time.

4 “It’s taking time to get rid of the infection. Symptoms are intensified. Symptoms last for a long time, even after the patient has gotten better “says Dr Anurag Mehrotra, Siddh Hospital.

5. Experts say that the H3N2 virus sends more people to the hospital than other types of influenza.

6. Dr. Anita Ramesh, an expert in clinical trials, says that the new strain of flu is not dangerous enough to kill people. “It is not dangerous to your life. But some of my patients had to stay in the hospital because they had trouble breathing. 7. The ICMR has also come up with a list of things people should and shouldn’t do to avoid getting the virus.

8. On the other hand, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has warned against using antibiotics without thinking. This is because there are more cases of cough, cold, and sickness all over the country.

9. The association has also asked doctors to stop giving antibiotics and just treat the symptoms.

10. “During Covid, Azithromycin and Ivermectin were used a lot, which has also led to resistance. Before giving antibiotics, you have to figure out if the infection is bacterial or not “In a statement, the medical group said.
