From May 23 to 25, the second meeting of the G-20 Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group will be conducted in Mumbai.

More than 120 members will attend this meeting, and representatives of the Working Group will also visit the BMC headquarters, according to this official statement.

This visit will include a tour of the control center of the Department of Disaster Management and a tour of the historic municipal building.

Iqbal Singh Chahal, the commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), conducted a meeting on Tuesday at the BMC’s headquarters in Mumbai to review the preparations being made by the BMC and other agencies.

The statement noted that Mumbai’s work in disaster management over the past few years has been recognized not only at the national level but also on a global scale.

The upcoming meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group of the G-20 Council is a chance to showcase this accomplishment to the world.

Keeping this in mind, the BMC Commissioner instructed all agencies, including the BMC, to maintain appropriate coordination and complete all outstanding works within the prescribed timeframe.

In light of this, the BMC Commissioner emphasized that the ongoing renovations to the BMC Headquarters building must be completed on schedule.

In addition, he directed that all work be completed in close coordination with all other stakeholder organizations.

In the month of May, a total of three Working Group Meetings of the G-20 Council will be conducted in Mumbai.

In light of this, the BMC Commissioner stated that the departments responsible for completing the works of roads, sanitation, and beautification, etc. that fall under their jurisdiction should do so in a timely manner and also bear in mind the experience that dignitaries had during previous G-20 meetings held in the city.
