A Mumbai police official announced on Friday that an alleged associate of fugitive gangster Chhota Shakeel was arrested in connection with a homicide after being on the run for more than 25 years.
Laik Mohammed Fida Hussain Shaikh (50), who formerly resided in Dongri in south Mumbai, was arrested on Thursday by a team of Pydhonie police near Thane railway station, according to an official.

“In 1997, Shaikh, who worked for the Chhota Shakeel gang, and his associates murdered a Chhota Rajan gang member. In the case, the court had declared him an absconder. We received information that he was residing in Mumbra, Thane, and set a trap to capture him,” the official said.
