Indian Fishermen Rescued: When 9 fishermen from Kerala and 5 from Tamil Nadu went to sea for fishing on November 27, 2022, they never thought that they would face death. All these fishermen were used to fishing in the sea. On November 27, all 14 fishermen tied ration for 35 days and kept it in their boat. These fishermen usually stayed at sea for 25 consecutive days. All of them set out on their boat journey from Thangapattinam in Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu.
On 4 December, when they were barely a week into their journey, the Krisa Mol (boat) developed a problem. In fact, all the fishermen were about five nautical miles from the coast when their boat’s gearbox broke down. For about three days, all were anchored in the sea. Meanwhile, he was spotted by a Sri Lankan fishing boat. With the help of Sri Lankan fishermen, the damaged gear box was repaired.

Meanwhile, the weather turned bad at sea, due to which the anchor of the boat Krisa Mole was cut and it started drifting in the water. After this the fishermen managed to reach ‘Ile Anglais’ with the help of a canoe. Ile Anglais is an atoll that is part of the Solomon Islands. The Solomons is located in the Chagos Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, south of the Maldives.

During this time, whatever food the Indian fishermen had was over. He cooked rice in the salt water of the sea and ate it. There were many coconut trees on the deserted atoll, Ile Anglais island, this starving fisherman survived by drinking coconut water for 15 days. Because it rains a lot here, they kept quenching their thirst by collecting rain water there.
All the fishermen stranded on Ile Anglais had almost given up hope of being rescued. But, December 23 came as a ray of hope for the fishermen when the OSV Grampian Endurance ship of Britain passing through there saw it. The British ship rescued them and handed them over to the Indian Coast Guard. All the fishermen are said to be healthy.
