Half Moon Bay: Seven dead in another California mass shooting

A man shot and killed seven former coworkers south of Half Moon Bay, San Francisco, marking the state of California’s third mass shooting in the past eight days.

The attacks occurred in Half Moon Bay, a coastal city. All of the victims were Asian-American farm labourers.

The 67-year-old suspect Zhao Chunli was apprehended after driving to the police station.

It comes as the state mourns the deaths of eleven people during Lunar New Year celebrations in Monterey Park, around six hours south-east of Half Moon Bay.

And just over a week ago, six people, including a teenage mother and her infant, were murdered on a Goshen property south of Los Angeles.

Governor Gavin Newsom of California stated that he was at a hospital meeting with victims of the first mass shooting when he was taken away to be briefed on the second attack, which he described as “tragedies upon tragedies.”

‘Unspeakable’

The most recent bloodshed in the state occurred on two ranches in the Half Moon Bay area.

Four victims of the gun attack were located at a mushroom field, while the remaining three were recovered at a neighbouring trucking company. A hospital is treating an eighth victim who is in critical condition.

According to San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus, a number of children who resided on the remote property and had just been released from school witnessed the attack.

“This type of gunfire is horrifying. It’s a tragedy we hear about all too frequently, but today it has struck close to home in San Mateo County “the office reported.

“It is unfathomable that children would be witnesses to such a scene.”

Following the murders, the suspect drove himself to the local police station, where his arrest was captured on camera.

Sheriff Christina Corpus of San Mateo County stated that a number of children who resided on the remote property and had just been let out of school witnessed the attack.

“This is a horrifying type of shooting. It’s a tragedy we hear about far too frequently, but today it’s touched home in San Mateo County “said the office.

Sheriff Corpus stated that he was found with a semi-automatic pistol that may have been used in the attack, and that he was cooperating with police.

President of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Dave Pine informed the Associated Press that a “disgruntled employee” was responsible for the attacks.

“We are disgusted by the tragedy that occurred at Half Moon Bay today,” said Mr. Pine in a statement. There are clearly too many firearms in our country, and something must be done.
