‘He’ll rest for three weeks’-CSK CEO provides update on MS Dhoni’s injury situation

Recently, he underwent surgery for the knee in Mumbai and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

MS Dhoni recently led the Chennai Super Kings to a record-tying fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) championship by defeating the Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans in the championship match. However, it was well known that Dhoni was simultaneously contending in the competition and dealing with a knee injury.

The 41-year-old did not miss a single match during the IPL 2023, and he was frequently seen with a knee cast after contests. Recent knee surgery was performed in Mumbai, and he is presently undergoing rehabilitation. In addition, Dhoni promised the supporters that he will compete in at least one more IPL season, provided his body holds up.

CEO of the Chennai Super Kings, Kasi Viswanathan, provided an update on MS Dhoni’s injury status while discussing a possible return to the Indian Premier League. He reported speaking with Dhoni, who informed him that he would be relaxing for three weeks before entering rehabilitation.

“He informed us that promptly following the conclusion of the final, he will fly to Mumbai, undergo surgery, and then return to Ranchi for rehabilitation. After Ruturaj’s nuptials [on June 4], I visited him in Mumbai. It was a request of courtesy. He’s quite content. He stated he will recover for three weeks before beginning his rehabilitation. As he stated, he will not play until January or February. We have no need to remind him of any of that,” Kasi Viswanathan stated to ESPNcricinfo.

He knows what to do: Viswanathan

Additionally, Viswanathan reflected on the fact that no one is asking Dhoni too many questions because the 41-year-old is aware of what he must do to get back into the game.

“He understands what to do and how to proceed, so we will not ask him ‘what are you going to do, how are you going to do it?’ etc. He will independently enlighten us. Whatever he is doing, he will contact Mr. N Srinivasan first and only inform him. In all actuality, he will be honest with him. From him, we will learn that he is engaging in this activity. This has been the case since 2008. Kasi Viswanathan stated that this trend will persist.
