Every year, Holi is celebrated in India with a large festival. Numerous people who reside away from their families travel back to their hometown to spend time with them. Indian Railways has announced that it will operate special trains to prioritise the holiday crowd in light of the anticipated passenger volume and their convenience. These special trains will provide connectivity between various main city destinations.
According to the Ministry of Railways, these 196 trains will make 491 journeys during the holiday season to facilitate travel throughout the country. A large number of special trains have been deployed between significant cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru and states such as Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, and Odisha, according to the report. In addition to the regular express trains, these special trains are operating on the numerous routes.
To manage the throng, the Railways have announced that they will implement measures such as the formation of queues at terminal stations under the supervision of the Railway Police Force (RPF) and the orderly entry of passengers into general coaches.
At key stations, additional RPF personnel and officers on emergency duty have been deployed to ensure safe travel and uninterrupted service. In addition, additional personnel has been deployed in various sectors to address any train service disruptions as a top priority.
