Leh: On Tuesday, all flights to and from Leh airport remained canceled due to the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) C-17 aircraft blocking the runway due to a technical issue.
The issue is being resolved, and the runway is expected to be operational by tomorrow morning, according to officials.
“A C-17 heavy-lift transport aircraft is experiencing serviceability issues on the Leh runway.” The issue is currently being resolved, and the runway is anticipated to be ready for use by tomorrow morning,”.
Today, Vistara informed passengers that flight UK601 from Delhi to Leh was rerouted due to runway restrictions. The airline tweeted, “Due to a runway restriction at Leh, flight UK601 from Delhi to Leh (DEL-IXL) is returning to Delhi airport (DEL) and is expected to arrive at 10:00 AM.” Please stay tuned for additional information.”

Passengers Raise Complaint
Several passengers who were detained at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh complained on Twitter. One passenger tweeted, “Our Mumbai-to-Leh Indigo flight landed in Chandigarh with the message that due to airport maintenance, we cannot proceed to Leh.” The entire flight is returning to Mumbai.”
Another air traveler petitioned the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to permit a few extra flights to and from Leh airport. “Passengers are stranded at Leh airport,” he tweeted. @AAI_Official Please grant permission to operate a few additional flights to and from Leh Airport on Wednesday, and request that @IndGo6E operate an additional flight on Wednesday.”
Leh’s Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is one of the world’s highest commercial terminals. The aerodrome is 3,256 meters (10,682 feet) above sea level.
