In India, the Jammu and Kashmir police have discovered a “perfume IED” for the first time in the Union Territory. During the investigation into the IED blast at Narwal in Jammu on January 21, the police made a breakthrough and arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist suspected of involvement in the twin blasts. They also recovered a “Perfume IED” from him.
On Thursday, February 2nd, while speaking with the media, J&K Police Director General Dilbag Singh stated, “A ‘perfume IED’, the first of its kind, was recovered from the terrorist’s possession. After the terrorist used sticky bombs, this is the first new approach. They have previously employed IEDs with timers.”
“In the past, terrorists have utilised IEDs containing explosive materials, sticky bombs, and timers; however, this time, we have recovered a new type of IED, the “perfume IED.” This IED resembles a bottle of perfume but contains explosive material. Since the IED is new to us, specialists will determine how dangerous and potent it can be “said Singh.
He also praised the J&K police officers who are investigating the Narwal case. Within 11 days of the explosion, the arrest of Arif Ahmed, a resident of Jammu’s Reasi district, was cited as a major accomplishment.
“Arif is a government employee and an active member of the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Tayyiba. In addition to losing his job, we will also file a strong case against him. Although he has very deftly destroyed all the evidence, including his clothes, shoes, and mobile phone. But police worked diligently on even the smallest inputs and leads that led to Arif’s arrest “Singh added.
