India Summons Canada Envoy: Recent actions by separatist and extremist elements against India’s diplomatic mission and consulates in Canada have prompted India to convene the Canadian high commissioner and express its deep concern.
It was stated that Canada was reminded of its obligations under the Vienna Convention and urged to apprehend and prosecute those already identified as being involved in such acts. The ministry hoped that the Canadian government would take all necessary measures to secure the safety of its diplomats and the security of its diplomatic facilities, allowing them to perform their normal diplomatic duties.
The Indian envoy to Canada was scheduled to attend an event in British Columbia on Sunday, but the event had to be canceled due to security concerns following a violent protest by Khalistan supporters.
