President Joe Biden Will Sign A Gun Control Bill At The Scene Of A Mass Shooting
Washington: President Joe Biden will address the epidemic of gun violence in the United States on Tuesday, when he signs an order tightening background checks on firearms purchasers at an event in Monterey Park, California, where eleven people were shot and killed in January.
The White House said that Joe Biden will “grieve with the families and community affected” by the mass shooting. This is because Biden’s Democratic Party has not been able to get Republicans to agree to stronger gun control laws.
During the Lunar New Year celebrations of the local Asian community in a Los Angeles suburb, a lone assailant fired and killed eleven individuals.
The most consequential of the measures announced by Biden will be an executive order to tighten background check regulations.
Polls indicate overwhelming public support for a comprehensive rule requiring criminal background checks for all gun buyers.
However, Republicans in Congress argue that this violates the constitutional right to bear arms and should be left to the discretion of individual states.
Currently, only federally licenced merchants, who account for less than fifty percent of gun sales, are required to conduct background checks.
The order from Joe Biden will instruct the attorney general to crack down on vendors who fail to conduct the checks and to clarify who qualifies as a dealer.

Although incremental, the measure “would result in fewer firearms being sold without background checks, and thus fewer weapons ending up in the hands of felons and domestic abusers,” according to the White House.
Joseph Biden intends to advance the United States as close to universal background checks as possible without additional legislation, according to the White House.
