Johnny Depp, who acquired immense notoriety during his ex-wife Amber Heard’s highly publicized defamation trial, has now relocated to Somerset, United Kingdom. According to a report in the Independent, citing Somerset existence Magazine, he stated that he prefers a peaceful existence in the country.
In 2014, the 59-year-old actor paid 13 million pounds for the mansion resembling Downton Abbey, Somerset Mansion, which has 12 bedrooms and eight bathrooms distributed across 850 acres.
“I just love places with character,” he told the magazine. “I have various houses in various locations, and they all mean something special. I don’t have them just to say I own them; I have them for use and because they are unique.”
In addition, he stated that “one of the many things I love about the United Kingdom” is that “everywhere you go, there is history and buildings with great character.”
The ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ actor went on to say that he can now enter stores “without being surrounded by people wanting selfies,” which he doesn’t mind “to a certain extent” but finds “a little too crowded” on occasion.
Mr. Depp added, “British people are cool and will greet you as a neighbor – without going overboard. I like going to places, seeing things, and meeting people – but I’m not the great extrovert that people believe me to be.”
“In reality, I’m quite shy,” he continued. Mr. Depp remarked, “That’s one of the great things about Britain and Somerset in particular: I can be myself, which is nice.”
