The Congress will proclaim Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister of Karnataka at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) here in Bengaluru on Thursday evening.
According to sources, while Siddharamaiah will be the Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, the leader of the Karnataka Congress, will be the Deputy Chief Minister.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru on May 20.
According to sources, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will invite opposition leaders to the swearing-in ceremony, and the Gandhis, Congress chief ministers, and senior Congress leaders will attend the event in Bengaluru.
The leader of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Shivakumar, has requested that all legislators attend the meeting of newly-elected MLAs, MLCs, and MPs at the Indira Gandhi Bhavan on Queen’s Road in Bengaluru at 7:00 p.m. today.
According to sources, Congress President Kharge labored until late Wednesday night to break the political impasse over the next chief minister and reach a consensus for the formation of a government.
Central Observers from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) have been instructed to travel to Bengaluru in order to facilitate the CLP Meeting.

Meanwhile, security was increased and banners were hung outside the residence of Congress leader Siddaramaiah.
In the 224-member Karnataka Assembly elections held on May 10, the Congress won 135 seats, ousting the governing BJP, which won 66 seats, and the Janata Dal (Secular), which won 19 seats.
