Kusamba is a big town in Klungkung, Bali. It is known for making salt, and it is now one of the most popular tourist spots in Bali. The black sand beach in the town and the beautiful scenery that surrounds it are the main things that add to its charm.
People in this town spend most of their time fishing and making salt. They use traditional methods to get salt out of the sea water and also to catch fish. Visitors to Kusamba Village would be able to see how salt is made and how fish are caught.
On the beach, salt is made in the shade of palm trees that sway in the wind. The sea water-soaked sand will be taken to the hut where salt is made, where it will be washed in more sea water. The salt water will be put into a palm tree-made trough. The salt water will disappear, leaving the salt to dry out. The farmers will then collect the salt, put it in a basket, pack it, and sell it.
The best salt in Bali comes from Kusamba, which has a lot of iodine in it. About 20–30 small groups of people make salt in the town, and they do it the old way. Going to this salt-making village will be a one-of-a-kind experience, and in the future, salt-making will go away from the village because most people don’t like doing it. You will get to see how salt is made.
Location: The village is located at a distance of 20-minute drive from Semarapura City in Klungkung.
