Licenses of 18 pharma companies cancelled

Licenses of 18 pharma companies cancelled : On Thursday, sources reported that the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) had cancelled the licenses of 18 pharmaceutical companies for manufacturing substandard drugs, following an inspection of 76 companies in 20 states.

According to official sources, 70 companies in Himachal Pradesh, 45 in Uttarakhand, and 23 in Madhya Pradesh have been punished as a result of the government’s crackdown on companies manufacturing counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

ANI has obtained a list of companies that manufactured counterfeit drugs.

The majority of companies against whom action has been taken are registered in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, according to the list obtained by ANI.

One of the 18 pharma companies The Himalaya Meditek Pvt. Ltd., registered in Dehradun, had its manufacturing license cancelled with immediate effect as of December 30, 2022, and permission to manufacture 12 products was revoked on February 7, this year.

Shri Sai Balaji Pharmatech Pvt. Ltd. of Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, was issued a show-cause and cease-manufacturing notice. After Drug Inspectors verified compliance, the stop-manufacturing order was rescinded.

EG Pharmaceuticals, Vill Mandhala, Teh Kasaula, Dist Solan (Himachal Pradesh) was also issued a show cause notice, and the halt production order was rescinded after compliance was verified.

Only a show cause notice was issued to Athens Life Sciences, Mauza Rampur Jattan, Nahan Road Kala Amb, District Sirmour 173030 (Himachal).

Laborate Pharmaceuticals India Ltd,(Unit -II), Rajban Road, Nariwala, Paonta Sahib (Himachal) was issued a warning and an order to show cause.

GNB Medica Lab in Solan, Himachal Pradesh, has been ordered to cease production of tablets, capsules, dry syrups (Beta-Lactam), Injectables (Liquid Injection -vials, ampoules, and PFS) sachets, and protein powder (General Section). A show cause notice has been issued, and drug inspectors have been asked to verify compliance.

Gnosis Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Nahan Road, Village Moginand, Kala Amb, Sirmour (Himachal) was issued a notice to show cause and cease production for Cosmetic Manufacturing.

Nestor Pharmaceuticals Limited, a Faridabad-based company, was served with a show-cause notice on January 30 of this year. The company was reinspected following the submission of compliance. It was ordered to comply with the provisions of Schedule M of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act and the Rules promulgated thereunder.

The nationwide assault on pharmaceutical companies involved in the production of counterfeit drugs is still ongoing.
