In the second Test of the series against the West Indies, Virat Kohli eventually ended his unwelcome century drought on the road by scoring a magnificent century. Notably, the 34-year-old required over four years to achieve his first Test century on foreign soil.
On his way to his 76th international century, the cricketer broke numerous records. Here are the list of records broken by Virat Kohli after his 76th International Century
- He the first player in cricket history to achieve a century in his 500th match. The Delhi-born batsman also tied Jacques Kallis’ (12) record for the second-most centuries in all formats against West Indies.
- The legendary cricketer Brian Lara was surpassed by Virat Kohli, who now has the fourth-most centuries in the history of Test cricket. The only players ahead of him on the list are Sachin Tendulkar (44), Jacques Kallis (35), and Mahela Jayawardene (30).
After scoring a century, Virat was unable to make a huge score. Due to a miscommunication with Ravindra Jadeja in the middle, the cricketer was unable to make it in time and was sent back to the pavilion by a direct throw from Alzarri Joseph. While strolling back, he appeared disheartened, as the cricketer had the ideal opportunity to capitalise in the middle.
On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja’s batting performance was also outstanding. Typically, the southpaw does not require much time to adjust, but in Trinidad, he deviated from this pattern. The 34-year-old adapted to the conditions and played to his strengths, scoring 61 runs off 152 balls. His partnership with Kohli proved to be extremely perilous, as India maintained the initiative.

For the team led by Kraigg Brathwaite to make a revival, they must be exceptional with the bat. The West Indies are talented, having defeated England in the most recent World Test Championship, and should therefore trust themselves in the middle. The captain, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, and Jermaine Blackwood will be of critical importance for them. Alick Athanaze, who played exceptionally well in the previous match, will need to maintain his form.
