As a result of the report from the Committee of Privileges, the suspension that had been placed on Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was lifted on Wednesday by the Lok Sabha secretariat.
The suspension of Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Member of Parliament, from the service of the House, which was implemented on 10.8.2023 till the submission of the Report by the Committee of Privileges, has been cancelled with effect from 30.8.2023, the Lok Sabha secretariat said in a statement. “The suspension of Shri Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Member of Parliament, from the service of the House which was effected on 10.8.
Following the presentation of a motion by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi that sought for the suspension of the Congress floor leader, Chowdhury was eventually removed from his position. The alleged disruptive behavior displayed by Chowdhury during the concluding phases of the most recent monsoon session of the parliament served as the impetus for this motion to be brought forward.
Earlier this month, during the Monsoon Session, he was accused of indulging in disruptive behavior, particularly when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and members of the Union cabinet were addressing the House.

The following item was listed as an item on the agenda of the Privileges Committee: “Oral evidence of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, MP in connection with motion/resolution adopted by the House on 10 August 2023 leading to his suspension from the service of the House and referring the matter to the Committee of Privileges for further investigation and report to the House.”
The motion to put Chowdhury’s suspension from the Lower House into effect was passed with a unanimous voice vote of approval.
