Mahindra Bolero become Rail Inspection Car
A Mahindra Bolero become rail inspection Car had been converted into a rail inspection vehicle and used to guide Ashwini Vaishnaw inspection trolleys across Jammu & Kashmir’s Chenab bridge, which is said to be the world’s highest railway arch bridge.
On Twitter, Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra group, shared a video by journalist Rajendra B. Aklekar. Aklekar wrote, “One of the first vehicles to drive on the world’s tallest railway arch bridge at Chenab, J&K, leading the inspection trolleys of Ashwini Vaishnaw was a Mahindra Bolero converted into a rail vehicle. The structure is taller than the Eiffel Tower in Paris at 359 meters.

Mahindra lauded this, stating, “They (videos) illustrate why the pioneers of Mahindra decided to manufacture off-road vehicles in independent India. They were intended to go where there were no paths and clear the way for others to follow.”

Track inspection trolleys are mobile vehicles used to evaluate infrastructure on railroad tracks.
Along these railroad tracks, a Mahindra Bolero become rail inspection Car. The Bolero’s tires have been modified with correct inflation. The use of rear-mounted guides facilitates track alignment.
For conducting visual inspections along the Chenab Bridge, the Bolero inspection trolley functions as an alternative to simple flat inspection cars. It provides a secure and pleasant voyage.
Indian Railways is constructing the “world’s highest railway bridge,” a 1,300-meter span over the Chenab River, to connect the vital Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramullah railway line.
During a recent site visit, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The plan is to run Vande Bharat trains along the stretch and Vande Metro trains between Jammu and Srinagar, which will cut the travel time between the two cities to 3.5 hours.” On the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, it takes about seven hours to get from one place to another.
