A 32-year-old man is accused of murdering his wife, chopping her corpse into five pieces, and hiding them in an empty water tank at his home in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh. Sunday, police recovered body parts from the receptacle kept inside the residence.
Santosh Singh, superintendent of police in Bilaspur, told PTI that the suspect strangled his wife Sati Sahu (23) on January 6 due to suspicions of adultery.
Santosh Singh stated that the incident came to light when the anti-crime and cyber unit of the Bilaspur police conducted a raid on the residence after receiving information that counterfeit currency was being printed there. During a search of his residence, the police detected a foul odour emanating from a room close to the restroom. They recovered the body parts, which had been wrapped in tape and plastic, from an unused water tank stored in the room.
Based on Santosh Singh, “The accused purchased a water tank and a cutter machine after murdering his wife. He cut the woman’s corpse into five pieces and attempted to set fire to them. Fearing he might be apprehended due to the stench of burning, he resolved to conceal the remains in the water tank.”
After murdering his wife, the man sealed her remains in polythene and enveloped them in tape before placing them in the tank. He then delivered his two children to his parents’ home in the village of Takhatpur.
