Tokyo: The artificial intelligence programme ChatGPT has passed tests, written news articles, and written code. So it is perhaps not surprising that “One Piece” author Eiichiro Oda has drawn inspiration from it.
The creator of the record-breaking manga, often cited as one of the most popular in the world, appeared to be experiencing writer’s block last month.
“Hello. This individual is the author. Next week, I cannot come up with a One Piece story. Could you create a story? A phenomenally excellent one, please “According to a video his staff posted to their Twitter account, he initiated the programme.
In seconds, ChatGPT created a narrative in which heroes encounter new allies and combat new foes, including “Shadow King.”
The programme attempted to sell the story to Eiichiro Oda by informing him that the proposed plot features a mystifying tribe, new allies, and a renewed focus on an existing character in order to highlight her intelligence and behaviour, which his readers would appreciate.
However, Eiichiro Oda’s immediate evaluation was forthright: “Sorry. It’s tedious, “He typed, demanding a superior concept.
The second time around, the programme was recognised for generating a plot in which an alien teamed up with “One Piece” characters and “pirate king” Luffy to battle a sorceress and reconstruct its destroyed home star.
“Thank you. I will depict things as they are “In response, Eiichiro Oda quipped that his next installment in the narrative would be based on the new plot.
Luffy, who wears a straw cap, and his crew search for the titular treasure, which is coveted by all pirates, in “One Piece.”
The final chapter began on July 25 in the Japanese manga weekly Shonen Jump.
Since the first installment was published in 1997, the series has amassed over 100 volumes and broken sales records.
Eiichiro Oda holds the Guinness World Record for the most volumes of a single comic book series published by a single author.
The 100th volume of the series was published in France last year with a print run of 250,000 copies, a figure comparable to that of works awarded the prestigious Prix Goncourt literature prize.

The universe of “One Piece” contains cultural and geographical references that lend it a universal quality, such as Ancient Egypt, Venice, and mediaeval Japan.
The series is appealing due to its captivating characters and contemporary themes of rapid industrialization, racism, slavery, and geopolitical intrigues.
Producers hope that the forthcoming release of a Netflix series based on the “One Piece” universe will help it conquer new territory by bringing the story to the more than 200 million subscribers of the global streaming platform.
