Manik Saha Takes Oath As Tripura Chief Minister for second time,8 ministers also take oath

Manik Saha took oath for the second time as Tripura Chief Minister today after the BJP clinched a victory in the February 16 Assembly polls. Eight other ministers were sworn in today.

Manik Saha Takes Oath As Tripura Chief Minister: On Wednesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Manik Saha was sworn in as the second chief minister of Tripura by Governor SN Arya.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and a multitude of other central leaders were present at the Vivekananda Stadium for the swearing-in ceremony of Saha and his cabinet. PM Modi arrived at the location in Agartala at 10:45 am. In addition to Saha, nine additional ministers were also sworn in.

“Manik Saha will take his second oath as chief minister of the state at the Vivekananda ground. “The Prime Minister will participate in the programme,” said Subrata Chakraborty, the BJP Tripura unit’s principal spokesperson.This is the first time in the past three decades that an anti-Left government has retained power in a northeastern state. “We believe the BJP 2.0 government will fulfil the people’s aspirations,” Chakraborty said.

In 1993, the Congress-TUJS succumbed to the Communists after defeating the Left in the border state in 1988 and forming the government.The election results for the Tripura Assembly were announced on Thursday. In the recent Tripura assembly elections, the BJP won 32 of the 60 available seats, while its ally, the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), won one.

On March 6, Saha conferred with the Governor in Agartala, two hours after being elected leader at a joint legislature party meeting of the BJP and IPFT. The Governor invited him to be sworn in as the state’s twelfth chief minister.In the meantime, the Tripura Congress and the Left decided to boycott the ceremony, citing post-election violence.

At least eight persons were injured in Tripura’s post-election violence, police reported on Saturday. Twenty individuals were arrested in connection with the post-election violence in the province, police said.
