Today, the Congress will conduct a nationwide satyagraha to protest the disqualification of party leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha.Sources indicate that Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will lead the protest at Raj Ghat in Delhi, despite the fact that the authorities denied their request.
The Congress termed Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification a “conspiracy” to silence the leader, who has relentlessly attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nearly a decade and served as the de facto leader of the main opposition party.
Yesterday, a combative Rahul Gandhi attacked the Prime Minister over his disqualification and cited Veer Savarkar to explain why he did not apologize for his remarks in London and during the defamation trial for which he was convicted.
“I have been disqualified because the Prime Minister fears my upcoming speech,” I observed dread within his eyes. “That’s why they don’t want me to speak in Parliament,” explained the leader of the Congress. In response to the BJP’s demands for an explanation, he stated, “My name is not Savarkar. I am a Gandhi. I won’t apologise.”
Mr. Gandhi was disqualified on Friday, a day after being found guilty of defamation by a court in Gujarat for a 2019 campaign trail remark deemed insulting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and dubbed by the BJP as degrading the entire Modi community.
The court also granted him parole and suspended his sentence for 30 days so he could file an appeal. His attorneys promised to file an appeal with a higher court. The Lok Sabha Secretariat also declared his Wayanad, Kerala, constituency vacant. The Election Commission may now call for a special election to fill the vacancy.

In addition, he is prohibited from running for office for eight years unless a higher court vacates his conviction. The BJP has stated that the conviction was the result of an independent judiciary, and party president JP Nadda has accused Mr. Gandhi of insulting an Other Backward Class (OBC) community, which is a critical voter base for the BJP.
