MI Vs RCB : Suryakumar Yadav of Star India and Mumbai Indians (MI) has scored 3,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In a match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium, the 32-year-old batsman reached this milestone.
Suryakumar Yadav was at his most swashbuckling during the match. In only 35 balls, he tallied 83 runs by hitting seven fours and six sixes. His innings led MI to a six-wicket victory in a 200-run pursuit.
Suryakumar has amassed 3,020 runs in his IPL career at an average of 30.82 and a strike rate of 141.45. Twenty half-centuries have been produced by his bat, with his highest score being 83.
2018 was Suryakumar’s most successful season. He scored 512 runs in 14 matches with an average of 36.57 and a strike rate of 133.3% during that season. That season, he scored four half-centuries, with his highest score being 72.
After a slow start to the season, Suryakumar has made significant strides in recent matches. He has scored 376 runs in 11 matches with an average of 34.18 and a strike rate of 186.6%. So far in the tournament, he has recorded four fifties, with a highest score of 83. He is presently eighth in the league in terms of run production.
Having been placed into bat by MI, RCB scored 199/6 in 20 overs. After MI took the early wickets of Virat Kohli (1) and Anuj Rawat (6), RCB’s captain Faf du Plessis (65 in 41 deliveries with five fours and three sixes) and Glenn Maxwell (68 in 33 balls with eight fours and four sixes) led a 120-run stand for the third wicket.
Dinesh Karthik (30 in 18 balls, four boundaries, and a six) and Kedar Jadhav (12* in 10 balls) made RCB’s total competitive with late contributions.
Jason Behrendorff (3/36) was the best bowler for the Michigan squad. Each of Cameron Green, Chris Jordan, and Kumar Kartikeya accounted for a dismissal.
Ishan Kishan’s explosive hitting got MI off to a strong start in the chase of 200, but the hosts were reduced to 52/2 in five overs after Kishan (42 in 21 balls, four fours, four sixes) and captain Rohit Sharma (7) were dismissed by Wanindu Hasanranga.
Once Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera established themselves, MI never looked back. Together, they scored 140 runs for the third wicket. Suryakumar scored 83 with seven fours and six sixes off only 35 deliveries. MI’s winning runs were made by Wadhera, who scored 52* in 34 balls with four fours and three sixes.
MI achieved the target with six wickets and 21 deliveries remaining.
His devastating hit earned Suryakumar Yadav the ‘Man of the Match’ honor.
