Mount Kawi, also called Gunung Kawi, is one of the oldest and biggest ancient structures in Bali. It is at the bottom of a green river valley.
Mount Kawi has 10 candi, or shrines, which are memories carved into the rock to look like statues. Mount Kawi, which stands 8 meters tall, shields the niches cut into the sheer cliff face. When you walk through the old terraced rice fields on the northern edge of town, you can see a beautiful view. These terraced rice fields are just as beautiful as any other in Bali. There are more than 270 steps to the top of the landmark.
Location: Mount Kawi is located in Tampaksiring, north east of Ubud in Bali, Indonesia.
