My Gut Says We’ll Fight In 2025 In a memo, a four-star general of the United States Air Force stated that his gut told him that the United States would fight China within the next two years. Comments such as these, according to authorities at the Pentagon, are not compatible with the American military’s views.
The head of the Air Mobility Command, US General Mike Minihan, stated in a letter to the leadership of the organization’s approximately 110,000 members, “I pray I am wrong.” “My intuition tells me that we will have a battle in 2025.”
The letter had been mailed out on Friday, even though it had the date of February 1 printed on it.
Although the opinions of the general do not reflect those of the Pentagon, they do demonstrate the worry that exists at the highest levels of the United States military regarding a potential effort by China to establish authority over Taiwan, which China claims as a territory of its own. According to what Minihan said, the year 2024 would see presidential elections held not only in the United States but also in Taiwan, which may present China with the opportunity to initiate military action.
An official from the United States Department of Defense stated that “these views do not represent the department’s perspective on China.”

At the beginning of this month, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated that he had a “serious doubt” that increased Chinese military activity near the Taiwan Strait were an indication that Beijing was planning to invade Taiwan in the near future.

A statement was released by Air Force Brigadier General Patrick Ryder in response to a request for comment. In the statement, Ryder stressed that military competition with China is a core challenge.
