Officials announced on Friday that the defence forces have suspended operations of the ALH Dhruv helicopters until investigators determine the cause of the accident that occurred off the coast of Mumbai two days ago and precautionary checks are conducted.
The Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as the Indian Coast Guard, operate the ALH helicopters. The Indian military uses these helicopters for multiple purposes, including the transportation of personnel and supplies.
HAL officials told the media, “HAL had already initiated steps and will work closely with customers to ensure that the Helicopter fleet is fully operational.”
The ALH Dhruv has become an integral component of helicopter missions conducted by all three forces in the various terrains in which they are deployed.
Officials from the Department of Defense expressed optimism that the ALH Dhruv operations would shortly resume. Two days ago, an Indian Navy ALH Dhruv on a routine flight mission off the coast of Mumbai experienced an abrupt loss of power and a rapid loss of altitude.
