Saturday, Muslim scholars and intellectuals convened in the state capital and called for the development of a plan to assist the community in escaping poverty.
“It is time to plan for the future so that our community can escape destitution and deprivation,” said Khalid Rashid Farangi Mahali, chairman of the Islamic Centre of India, as he presided over a two-day conference of the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) that began on Saturday in Lucknow.
Government representatives, academics, policymakers, academicians, intellectuals, and civil society activists are participating in the two-day event, which emphasised the need for the community to utilise government programmes.
Safi Haider, secretary of Tanzeemul-Makatib Lucknow, was the conference’s special guest and praised AMP’s efforts.
“Society can only be improved by bringing non-governmental organisations (NGOs) together,” he said, providing additional information about Tanzeemul Makatib.
Aamir Idrisi, president of AMP, stated that the conference will focus on 200 districts with a preponderance of minorities. He stated, “A significant portion of the community is marginalised and must be brought to parity with other communities.”

AMP will now organise regional conferences in other locations, where regional social influencers and non-governmental organisations will connect. “Together, they will contribute to the improvement of the community’s educational and social conditions,” he said.
Former IPS officer U Nissar Ahmed emphasised the importance of the community receiving government benefits. “It is crucial to raise awareness in the community. “All non-governmental organisations will be required to promote government programmes in order to attract the underprivileged,” he stated.
