Pakistan’s Nida Dar Becomes highest Wicket-taker In Women’s T20Is, Pakistan Lose To England
Veteran Pakistan spinner Nida Dar became the highest wicket-taker in the history of women’s T20I cricket on Tuesday. During Pakistan’s final Group 2 match against England in the current ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, the 36-year-old reached the milestone. At the end of the game, Dar had a score of 1/47 in four overs. She took out England’s captain, Heather Knight, for only four runs. She has taken 126 wickets in 130 matches, for an average of 18.18 and a rate of 5.47 per over. 5/21 is her best score in this format for bowling.
Anisa Mohammed of the West Indies has taken 125 wickets, Megan Schutt of Australia has taken 122 wickets, Ellyse Perry of Australia has taken 122 wickets, and Shabnim Ismail of Australia has taken 122 wickets (South Africa, 117 wickets).
After England chose to bat first in the match, they scored 213/5. Before the end of the powerplay, they were down to 33/2. Danni Wyatt (59 off 33 balls) and Nat-Sciver Brunt put England back in the game with a 74-run partnership. After England lost a few more wickets quickly, they were down to 113/4. From there, Brunt and wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones (47 runs off 31 balls) quickly put together a hundred-run partnership. Brunt scored an unbeaten 81 with 12 fours and one six in 40 balls.
Fatima Sana (2/44) was Pakistan’s best bowler in the end. Each of Dar, Sadia Iqbal, and Tuba Hassan got a wicket in the end.
Pakistan was never in the game when they were trying to beat 214. They lost by 114 runs, which is the most in the history of the Women’s T20 World Cup. With 28 runs, Tuba Hassan got the most points.
The best bowlers for England were Katherine Sciver-Brunt (2/14) and Charlie Dean (2/28). Sophie Ecclestone, Nat Sciver, and Sarah Glenn all picked up a wicket.

England finished Group 2’s group stage with eight points and four wins out of four games. Pakistan comes in fourth in the group, with only two points and one win in four games.
