The Panchkula municipal corporation has made it clear that property tax does not need to be paid for common parking areas at group housing societies, citing a “technical error” as the reason for their clarification.
Earlier, the MC had sent out warnings to a variety of inhabitants of group housing societies in the city, requesting them to pay property tax for common parking spots. There are approximately 200 group housing societies in the city.
Several different resident welfare organisations took issue with the requirement and approached authorities from the MC in an effort to get the notices rescinded.

RWAs were given the assurance by Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal that residents will not be subjected to any additional burdens, and that errors will be rectified as quickly as possible. Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Sachin Gupta stated, “We have been holding camps on alternate days for the purpose of corrections.” Residents have the ability to make rectifications by visiting the camps at the MC offices. We are shooting to finish the process of amending the taxes within a week as our goal.
