Nothing Ear (2) Black offers the same great sound with a fresh coat of paint

Beyond the striking new black colour option for the Ear (2), Nothing has also made significant improvements to the accompanying Nothing X app, enhancing the overall user experience.

  • Nothing Ear (2) Black is available on Flipkart for Rs 9,999.
  • Nothing has also significantly improved the Nothing X app.
  • Noise Reduction has also been included to Nothing Ear Stick.

Nothing has been making headlines recently. And no, I’m not talking about nothing; I’m referring to “Nothing,” Carl Pei’s tech brand. The company recently unveiled the successor to the Phone (1), nicknamed — Nothing Phone (2). But that’s not all; the business has released a new hue for its flagship TWS earphones, Nothing Ear (2). The Ear (2)’s are now available in a new black colour, and as the headline suggests, the new TWS earbuds provide the same amazing sound but with a new look. However, in addition to the eye-catching new colour option, Nothing has made major upgrades to the accompanying Nothing X software, increasing the whole user experience.

What’s new in Nothing Ear (2) Black?

The Nothing Ear (2) Black, priced at Rs 9,999, is Rs 1,000 more expensive than its white cousin. Why am I saying this? Because, while the black Ear (2)s were released at the same price as the white ones, the latter is already retailing online for Rs 8,999.

As Nothing did with the Ear (1)’s, the earbuds were initially released in white and then subsequently in black. The Nothing Ear (2) was created using the same process. This improvement, however, is more than just a colour change. The black colorway, you see, provides a tempting alternative to the dazzling white design, allowing customers can embrace a more discrete and sophisticated aesthetic while still enjoying the same outstanding capabilities that make Ear (2) a genuine market standout.

Aside from the eye-catching new colour option for the Nothing Ear (2), the business has also significantly improved the companion Nothing X software, boosting the whole user experience. The enhanced equaliser settings, which now allow for precision tweaking, are one noticeable improvement. Users may adjust their sound profile to fit their particular preferences with these advanced options, offering an immersive audio experience suited precisely to their liking.

Previously, the Nothing X app’s equaliser featured a simple setup with four separate presets – Balanced, More Bass, More Treble, and Voice. Of course, you could do a custom setup, but it would be nowhere near as tight as what you are getting today.

So, with the Nothing X app’s Advanced equaliser, you can now build many profiles, each tuned to various genres or moods. Nothing has been upgraded with a graphical interface that lets users to fine-tune the frequencies to their taste. You can also alter the Frequency and Q factor to fine-tune the audio character even further. So, whether you’re listening to a bass-heavy hip-hop track or the ethereal harmonies of classical music, or if you’re like me and love reverb-dominated Bollywood music, you can save your preferred sound settings as distinct profiles. And here’s the icing on the cake: you can share these profiles with your friends and other audiophiles by scanning QR codes.

Also, the sophisticated equaliser in the Nothing X app is now only accessible for the Nothing Ear (2) and the Nothing Ear Stick. The latter now has a noise reduction capability that can be accessible via the Nothing X app.

Nothing Ear (2): My personal experience

Not only have I been sporting the Nothing Ear (2) Black, but also the white TWS earbuds – I have been using these earphones as my everyday driver for listening to a lot of music. In my opinion, if you decide to purchase the Nothing Ear (2), you will not be disappointed. Overall, you get a solid frequency response across all music genres as well as a vibrant soundstage. Overall, the bass response is tight and clear. In reality, the personal sound feature is an excellent addition for an enhanced listening experience. Aside from that, Nothing Ear (2) excels in producing mids and high tones. The sound was never screechy, even when I played tunes at full volume.

To summarise, the Nothing Ear (2)’s sound output has been rich and detailed, with good instrument separation, since day one of using the white earbuds. I’ve only been spoiled with a new colour option and, of course, the extensive EQ settings with the black earphones. Because everything about the Nothing Ear (2), from the sound quality to the acceptable ANC to the pricing, makes it an enticing bundle. The new colour option and features simply add to the whole package, both in terms of form and function.
