On 6 June, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) refuted claims by the Congress that thousands of Indians canceled their tickets in response to the tragic accident in Odisha. Even the IRCTC deemed it factually inaccurate.
IRCTC wrote on Twitter, “This is factually inaccurate. The rate of cancellations has not risen. In contrast, cancellations fell from 7.7 lakh on 01.06.23 to 7.5 lakh on 03.06.23.”
Earlier on Monday, former union minister and Congress leader Bhakta Charan Das claimed that thousands of individuals have canceled their tickets in response to the accident because they no longer feel secure traveling.

In the fatal accident, 17 coaches of these two passenger trains were derailed and gravely damaged.
Trains can now operate normally at the accident site, where repairs have been completed.
After the disaster, many passengers have canceled their flights. They believe that traveling by train is dangerous,” Das said in Hindi.
