Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that only the bodies related to online gaming cannot regulate it and the regulator should be separated from the supremacy of the companies. According to Bhasha news, Chandrasekhar said after an open discussion with the representatives of gaming companies that the rules are expected to be notified by January 31. In this discussion, the side of the companies was heard on the proposed rules of the government regarding online gaming.
The government has issued draft rules for the regulation of online gaming, in which it has been proposed to create a self-regulatory mechanism. This was discussed with gaming companies.
Chandrasekhar said, it is wrong to assume that an industry body will automatically become a Self Regulatory Organization (SRO). No industry body will be a self-regulatory organization. It can only be a body that represents all the stakeholders.
He said that this self-regulatory organization will include representatives of all parties related to gaming – children, parents, players, government and gaming intermediary companies. Under the new law, all gaming companies will have to register with the Self Regulatory Organization.
