More than 5 crore tax returns covering the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022-23 have been submitted.
The Income Tax Department tweeted, “Of the 5.03 crore ITRs filed till 27th July 2023, approximately 4.46 crore ITRs have been e-verified i.e. more than 88 per cent ITRs filed have been e-verified.”
Over 2.69 crore ITRs have been processed so far, out of the total number of e-verified ITRs. If you are a salaried employee or do not need to have your books audited, you have until July 31 to file your Individual Tax Return (ITR) for the assessment year 2023-24.
Our helpdesk is staffed around-the-clock to field calls, chats, Webex sessions and social media messages from taxpayers in need of assistance with ITR filing, tax payment or any of our other connected services.
The agency has said, “We will continue to provide support till 31.07.2023, including on Saturdays and Sundays,” asking taxpayers who haven’t filed ITR for AY 2023-24 to do so as soon as possible to prevent a last-minute flurry.
