Parliament Monsoon Session Updates: The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which was introduced on Tuesday in Lok Sabha, will be considered and passed on Wednesday. The Constitution gives the Parliament the authority to enact any laws pertaining to Delhi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated in response to opposition members’ objections.

Tuesday, the Rajya Sabha passed three measures despite protests from the Oppositions. These were the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Bill of 2023, the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill of 2023, and the Mediation Bill of 2021. The legislation was approved by voice vote. Additionally, two measures have been introduced in the House.

The motion of no confidence against the Narendra Modi government over the violence in Manipur and other contentious issues will be debated in the Lok Sabha from August 8 to 10. On July 26, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla accepted Congress lawmaker Gaurav Gogoi’s notice for a no-confidence motion, setting the stage for a parliamentary battle between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the newly formed Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA).

The Bill had previously been approved by the Lok Sabha.
