Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) may have experienced a number of ups and downs over the past few weeks, but they are still anticipating bilateral series against India in the near future. Zaka Ashraf, chairman of the PCB’s interim management committee, is scheduled to meet with Jay Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on Tuesday, July 11 in Durban, South Africa, on the sidelines of an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.
The 70-year-old Ashraf, who is also searching for a new chief selector, stated that he hoped to meet with Shah in order to establish confidence so that the cricket teams can travel to the other country.
Ashraf told Dawn.com on Tuesday that he hopes to meet with Jay Shah today to discuss relations between both boards and create confidence-building measures for both countries to play in both countries and develop cricket relations.
Importantly, Pakistan is scheduled to travel to India in October and November for the impending ODI World Cup. However, the Pakistani government has not yet given its approval. In the meantime, India remained adamant that they would not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) eventually consented to a hybrid format for the upcoming Asia Cup. Pakistan was originally scheduled to host the event. Sri Lanka and Pakistan will now co-host the event, and India’s fixtures will be played on the island nation.
