PM Modi inaugurates Shivamogga Airport in Karnataka

Shivamogga airport is being built on 663 acres of land with an investment of ₹449.22 crore.

Inauguration of Shivamogga airport: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Shivamogga Airport in Karnataka. Later in the day, he is scheduled to conduct a road show in Belagavi.The Additional Director General of Police, Alok Kumar, inspected the security preparations for the roadshow at Channamma Circle.

In the context of the Prime Minister’s programme, strict security measures have been implemented. Police officers have been stationed along the route of the road display. 6 Superintendents of Police (SPs), 11 Additional SPs, 28 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 60 inspectors, 22 KSRP companies, and 3,000 personnel were deployed for security. It will be a road display of 10.7 kilometres,” said Alok Kumar.

PM Modi stated, “The airport in Shivamogga will substantially improve connectivity.””The double engine administration is bringing development to Karnataka’s villages, tier-2 and tier-3 cities,” he added at the inauguration.

Water supply projects worth Rs 2,500 crore

PM Modi also inaugurated water supply facilities in Shivamogga and Belagavi totaling Rs 2,500 crore.The water supply initiatives implemented under the Centre’s flagship ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ will benefit over 13 lakh residents of the two districts.

On February 6, Prime Minister Modi laid the cornerstones for two Jal Jeevan Mission initiatives in Tumakuru, Karnataka, at Tiptur and Chikkanayakanahalli. Costing over Rs 430 crore, the Tiptur Multi-Village Drinking Water Supply Project has been implemented.

The multi-village water supply scheme for 147 habitations of Chikkanayakanahlli taluk cost approximately Rs 115 crore to implement. The initiatives will facilitate the distribution of potable water throughout the region.On January 19, PM Modi laid the foundation stone at Kodekal in the Yadgiri district of Karnataka for the Yadgiri multi-village potable water supply scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The proposal called for the construction of a 117 MLD water treatment facility. The initiative will provide potable water to approximately 2,300,000 households in over 700 rural settlements and three towns in the Yadgiri district at a cost of over Rs 2,050 crore.As part of Prime Minister Modi’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every household in the nation has access to potable water, these projects have been initiated.

Rs 16,800 crore to over 8 crore farmers

In Belgavi, the Prime Minister  also distributed the thirteenth installment of over Rs 16,800 crore to over eight crore beneficiary farmers under the income support programme PM-Kisan.Under the programme, Rs 6,000 is deposited annually in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 into the bank accounts of eligible landholder farmers. Since the introduction of PM-Kisan in February 2019, more than Rs 2.2 lakh crore have been disbursed to over 11 crore landholding farmer families across the nation.

The eleventh and twelfth installments of funds for the current fiscal year were released in May and October of last year, respectively. “The PM-Kisan programme has already provided significant benefits to farmers across the nation, and this latest installment will further increase their incomes and contribute to the expansion of the agriculture sector,” the agriculture ministry said in a statement released on Sunday.

The programme is open to all land-owning agricultural families in the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria. In the past four years, over 53,600 billion rupees have been distributed to over three billion women as a result of this scheme.

According to the ministry, PM-Kisan funds have stimulated rural economic development, loosened credit restrictions for farmers, and increased agricultural investments. It has also increased the risk-taking ability of producers, resulting in more productive investments. According to the IFPRI, PM-Kisan funds assist recipients in meeting their agricultural requirements and other expenses such as education, health care, and marriage.
