PM Modi to hold high-level meeting: Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will convene a high-level meeting to assess public health preparedness in light of the increase in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases.India has reported 1,134 new infections, bringing the total number of active cases to 7,026, as of Wednesday’s amended data from the Union health ministry.
With the addition of five more fatalities, the death toll attributable to Covid rose to 5,30,813. Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, and Maharashtra each reported one mortality, while Kerala confirmed one fatality. Daily positivity was measured at 1.09 percent, while weekly positivity was determined to be 0.98 percent.
The Union health ministry suggested in a letter sent to six states reporting an increase in Covid cases last week that a localised dissemination of coronavirus may be to blame.
In a letter to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated, “There is a need to follow a risk assessment-based approach to prevent and contain the infection.” “A few states are reporting a higher number of cases, indicating a possible localised spread of infection.”
