Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu visited the Lalla Rookh Museum in Suriname.
On the third day of her tour of Suriname, the President also visited the Vishnu Mandir.
Lalla Rookh Museum is a museum dedicated to the history and culture of Indo-Suriname. It is located in Paramaribo, Suriname, in the Lalla Rookh Complex.
Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the long-standing ties between India and Suriname, noting that the partnership is rooted in the shared historical experience of colonialism and that the two nations’ relations have evolved over time and withstood the test of time.
“It is an honor for me and my delegation to visit your country. During her address at the State Banquet hosted by Suriname’s President Chandrikapersad Santokhi, President Murmu expressed her gratitude for the cordial welcome and hospitality extended to her and her delegation by the government and the people of Suriname.
On Tuesday, President Murmu and her counterpart in Suriname, Chandrikapersad Santokhi, attended a cultural festival commemorating 150 years since the arrival of Indians in Suriname.
On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu was awarded Suriname’s highest civilian honor, The Grand Order of the Chain of Yellow Star.
Murmu received the accolade from Chandrikapersad Santokhi, the President of the Republic of Suriname.
The first leg of President Droupadi Murmu’s state visit to Serbia and Suriname began on June 4 in Paramaribo, Suriname.

Rashtrapati Bhavan issued an official statement stating that she was greeted at the Johan Adolf Pengel International Airport with full state honors by Suriname’s President Chandrikapersad Santokhi.
