Punjab: Army jawan detained in Bathinda military station firing case

The police have arrested a jawan in connection with the shooting deaths of four soldiers at the Bathinda Military Station in Punjab, which occurred days earlier, on Monday.

The police have nabbed a jawan in connection with the shooting deaths of four soldiers at the Bathinda Military Station in Punjab, which occurred days earlier, on Monday. Punjab Police say that four jawans were questioned on Sunday in connection with the incident.

After the shooting at the Bathinda Military Station, the Punjab Police filed charges against two individuals.

Major Ashutosh Shukla, a witness to the shooting, provided the statement used to file the FIR.

According to the FIR, the names of the four deceased jawans are Sagar, Kamlesh, Santosh, and Yogesh.

After their shift ended, they went back to their rooms to sleep when they were attacked by two masked guys in white kurta pyjamas armed with rifles and other weapons. The bloodied bodies of the four jawans were discovered in their respective bedrooms.

One of the weapons used in the crime has been recovered, the police said.

The incident resulted in the deaths of four soldiers from an artillery battalion.

The Army has released a statement saying that there were no additional casualties or property damage as a result of the event.

The Army has stated that an INSAS rifle and 28 rounds have been stolen for the past two days, and that it suspects a member of its own ranks is responsible.

After the incident, authorities sealed off the area and began investigating in conjunction with the Punjab Police.

Army Chief General Manoj Pandey reportedly briefed both Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh and himself on the incident.
