Raisina Dialogue 2023, conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics, was opened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni on March 2. It was organised by the Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs.
“India and Italy shared a deep belief in the rule of law, and a human-centric vision in which democracy, peace, science, and development went hand in hand,” Meloni emphasised in her inaugural speech.
In a statement to the world in the wake of recent turmoil, Observer Research Foundation (ORF) quoted Italian Prime Minister Matteo Meloni as saying that only stronger international resolve would be able to address the threats posed by terrorism, war, climate change, and rapid technological advancement.
According to a press release from ORF, Giorgia Meloni highlighted the expanding connectivity between Europe and the Indo-Pacific and its favourable consequences for trade and strategic alliances in her opening remarks at the Raisina Dialogue, which is taking place from March 2 to 4 in New Delhi. She acknowledged the significance of the G20 as an international organisation that could work together to resolve complex problems and gave PM Modi the assurance that Italy would back India’s initiatives as G20 president.
Meloni emphasised that India and Italy had recently resolved to strengthen their bilateral ties and that one of the many areas of shared interest was a joint commitment to advance the G20 agenda. According to the news release, S Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, gave the vote of thanks at the inauguration.
Jaishankar stated in his speech that despite the world being in an unprecedented state of unpredictability, there are solutions to every problem and competent leadership. He added that the G20 had provided both.
The eighth iteration of The Raisina Dialogue was put on by The Observer Research Foundation and the Ministry of External Affairs. It takes place in New Delhi from March 2–4, 2023. Provocation, Uncertainty, Turbulence: Lighthouse in the Tempest? is the conference’s title this year. The Dialogue will discuss important topics that are reshaping the global order, navigate uncertainty, consider potential solutions, and develop a coordinated strategy to raise everyone up.
Over 100 sessions totaling panel talks, roundtables, studio sessions, and related events are included in the Raisina Dialogue, which will take place in 2023 and focus on five different themes.

This year’s Raisina Dialogue will welcome more than 2500 participants from more than 100 nations. They consist of current and past heads of state, legislators, ministers, military commanders, multilateral organisation heads, business executives, and eminent thinkers.
