A government school principal and a pupil perished when their school bus collided with a parked dump truck in a Barmer, Rajasthan, village. On their way back from a sports competition in Raniwara, the bus conveying students and staff from Swami Vivekananda Government Model School in Detani collided with a parked dump truck.
Mohammad Ibrahim has been identified as the deceased school principal, while Savina has been identified as the pupil. While the school principal perished on the scene, the pupil succumbed to her injuries while receiving medical care.
The incident occurred around 8:00pm on Saturday near Sehlau village when a group of students, along with the school personnel, were returning after a victorious tournament organised in Raniwara. According to officials, there were 24 female pupils and four staff members on board, including the school’s principal.
Anjum Tahir Samma, Additional District Collector of Barmer, stated, “According to initial reports, the staff and female pupils of Model School Detani traveled to Raniwara to compete in a sports competition. As they were returning, the bus collided with a refuse truck.”
“Students in critical condition have been sent to Jodhpur for treatment,” said ADM Anjum Tahir Sama.
ANI reported that officials said the bus driver could not see a parked dump lorry on the side of Bharat Mala Road near the village of Sehlau and consequently crashed into it.
“However, the precise cause of the accident is unclear,” they said.

Upon obtaining information, a police team arrived at the scene and, with the help of the villagers, transported the accident victims to the Gagariya Community Health Center (CHC). The critically injured were referred from CHC Gagariya to Barmer for additional medical attention.
Twenty of them were transported to Chauhatan Hospital with severe injuries, while nine others were taken to Gagariya Hospital.
