Rajnath Singh, the Indian defense minister, tweeted that he “deeply appreciates his positive attitude and interest in further strengthening India-Malaysia relations.”

“Today in Kuala Lumpur, I had an excellent encounter with the Malaysian Minister of Defense, Mr. Mohamad Hasan. We discussed the road map for the 4th Decade of India-Malaysia Defense Cooperation and reviewed the diverse pillars of the extensive bilateral defense engagement,” he said.

The defence ministry in New Delhi announced on Saturday that Singh and Hasan will assess defense cooperation between the two nations and investigate new initiatives to further strengthen the engagements.

“India and Malaysia share an interest in the prosperity and peace of the entire region.” The relationship between the two democracies is robust and multifaceted, and has expanded into several strategic areas, including defense and security, as stated by the ministry.

“Both countries are committed to advancing the enhanced strategic partnership envisioned during the 2015 visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Malaysia,” the statement read.

Malaysia is one of a smattering of nations with a strong desire to acquire India’s indigenously developed Tejas aircraft.
