The Delhi Police’s advice on routes to avoid and other routes for Republic Day 2023

Commuters have been asked to plan their trips ahead of time and stay away from the parade route on Monday between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm.

The Delhi Traffic Police sent out a new warning on Sunday, a day before the full dress rehearsal for the Republic Day parade, which is set to happen on Monday. The parade will start at 10:30 am at Vijay Chowk and go to the Red Fort via Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, the roundabout statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhash Marg.

For the 74th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, airports are on high alert and security has been stepped up. People are being asked to plan their trips ahead of time and stay away from the parade route between 9:30 am and 1:00 pm. Police have told people to take the metro or one of the other routes listed on the advisory. On Monday, however, access to two stations on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro will be limited for a short time.

Roads to avoid:

No traffic movement on Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk to India Gate from 6 pm on Sunday till the end of the parade on Monday.

No cross-traffic on Kartavya Path at Rafi Marg, Janpath and Man Singh Road from 11 pm on Sunday till the parade ends.

C-Hexagon-India Gate will be closed from 9.15 am on Monday till the parade crosses Tilak Marg

Traffic on both directions will not be allowed on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg from 10.30 am. Cross-traffic will only be allowed depending on the movement of the parade.

Commuters have been asked to avoid the parade route from 9.30 am to 1 pm.

Alternate routes:

North-South Corridor: Ring Road- Ashram Chowk-Sarai Kale Khan- I.P. Flyover- Rajghat- Ring Road From Madrasa – Lodhi Road T Point – Aurobindo Marg – AIIMS Chowk – Ring Road – Dhaula Kuan – Vande Mataram Marg – Shankar Road – Park Street or Mandir Marg

East-West Corridor: Ring Road – Bhairon Road – Mathura Road – Lodhi Road – Aurobindo Marg – AIIMS Chowk – Ring Road – Dhaula Kuan – Vande Mataram Marg – Shankar Road – Park Street or Mandir Marg

For New Delhi railway station:

From South Delhi: Dhaula Kuan – Vande Mataram Marg – Panchkuian Road – Outer Circle Connaught Place – Chelmsford Road towards Paharganj or Minto Road – Bhavabhuti Marg towards Ajmeri Gate

From East Delhi: Via ISBT Bridge Boulevard Road – Rani Jhansi Flyover – Jhandewalan – DB Gupta Road – Sheela Cinema Road – Paharganj Bridge via New Delhi railway station

For Old Delhi railway station:

From South Delhi: Ring Road – Ashram Chowk – Sarai Kale Khan – Ring Road – Rajghat – Ring Road – Chowk Yamuna Bazar -S.P. Mukherjee Marg – Chhatta Rail – Kauria Bridge and reach Old Delhi railway station.

Bus movement

City buses will be curtailed at Park Street/Udyan Marg, Aram Bagh Road (Paharganj), Kamla Market roundabout, Delhi Secretariat (IG Stadium), Pragati Maidan (Bhairon Road), Hanuman Mandir (Yamuna Bazar), Mori Gate, ISBT Kashmere Gate, ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and Tis Hazari Court.

Buses from Ghaziabad bound for Shivaji Stadium will take NH-24, Ring Road and terminate at Bhairon Road. Those coming from NH-24 to take the right turn on Road No 56 and terminate at ISBT Anand Vihar.

Buses coming from Ghaziabad will be diverted at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi for Wazirabad Bridge.

All inter state buses from Dhaula Kuan side will terminate at Dhaule Kian.

Metro services

Metro services are available at all stations during the dress rehearsal. However, boarding and deboarding at Kendriya Sachivalaya and Udyog Bhawan stations on the Yellow Line is not allowed from 5 am till 12 pm on Monday.
