Indonesia’s parliament approved the new criminal law on Tuesday. Sex outside marriage has been brought under the ambit of crime under this new law. Violation of this can lead to a jail term of one year. This rule will apply equally to citizens of Indonesia and foreigners living in the country.
Along with this, a ban has also been imposed on having physical relations with anyone other than the partner after marriage. However, it has been said in the law that police action in this case can be taken only after the complaint of husband-wife or children.
According to the new law, only husband and wife will have the right to have physical relations. In such a situation, if a married or an unmarried woman or man violates this law, then they may have to go to jail for one year. Along with this, fine can also be imposed on them.
However, action will be taken in this matter when a woman or man lodges a complaint against their partner or the parents of unmarried people who do so. The complaint can be withdrawn before the trial in the court. But if the trial starts in the court, then action will be taken according to the law.
Along with this, a ban has also been imposed on insulting the President of the country and government institutions.

There was a ruckus in Indonesia even three years ago

According to India Today’s report, Indonesia’s Deputy Justice Minister Edward Omar Sharif spoke to news agency Reuters about this. Omar Sharif said that we are proud of this decision, because it reflects Indonesian values.
The special thing is that if this proposal becomes a law in Indonesia, which welcomes tourists on a large scale, it will be applicable not only to Indonesian citizens but also to foreigners coming here. For this reason, many business groups in Indonesia have also expressed concern over this. He believes that this step of the government can affect not only tourism but also investors.
