According to a story that was published by CNN, a tourist from Australia passed away after being attacked by a shark off of a popular beach in New Caledonia. The man, aged 59, was bitten by a shark on Sunday afternoon about four o’clock when he was swimming close to a pontoon in Noumea, the capital of New Caledonia, according to a further report from the outlet that cited New Caledonia 1. The man was brought back to shore by two persons who were riding a jet ski at the time. They gave him cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), but they were unable to save his life despite their best efforts.
According to ABC News, as soon as lifeguards became aware of the attack, they immediately ordered the evacuation of the beach.
It was announced that the beaches of Noumea, which are a popular destination for holidaymakers, would be closed.
According to a statement released by the Noumea City Council, which was picked up by CNN, “swimming and nautical activities are banned in a 300-meter coastal area until further notice.”
The swimmer’s arms and legs had been bitten by the shark at least three times, according to Dr. Vincent Ouradou, a paramedic, who was reported in the Daily Star as expressing this information.
In addition, drones have been put to use in the region to search for sharks in the ocean.
In the beginning of this month, a girl who was 16 years old and swimming with dolphins in the waters of Perth, Western Australia’s state capital, passed away after being attacked by a shark.
According to a statement released by the police, the little girl was rescued from the water but she was in a terrible condition, and she passed away at the site.
The latest fatal shark attack in Western Australian waters occurred in November 2021 at Perth’s Port Beach, when a 57-year-old man was killed by a great white shark.
