Following India’s tough 209-run loss to Australia in the World Test Championship final, fans and analysts have discussed and analyzed the influence of India’s veteran players. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, two of India’s modern-day batting legends, failed to make an impact in the WTC final. In the two innings, captain Rohit scored 15 and 43, while Kohli scored 14 and 49.
There are cricket fans who criticize the performances of these two legends, particularly in ICC knockouts. Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of India, has come out in support of Rohit and Virat, stating that with ICC events occurring annually, the two experienced players will play crucial roles.
“I have little faith in last time, first time. I have faith in performances. I believe they are 34-35, and I have no idea what will happen in the next World Cup. Every year there are global tournaments for T20 cricket and 50-over cricket. It’s not like it used to be when we first began – one every four years – because the Champions Trophy was introduced. It is therefore about performances, and I am confident that Rohit as captain and Virat will want to make it a significant one, not from a personal standpoint but for the sake of winning. I believe it is the largest,” Ganguly told Star Sports.
Rohit Sharma will have a fantastic time competing in the World Cup at home.
India will play nine division matches across nine venues in the upcoming ODI World Cup. The two-time champions will commence their campaign in Chennai on October 8 against Australia. In a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit Sharma, who will lead the side in the 10-team tournament, stated that the World Cup will be more competitive this year.
