Stay Away: PM Modi’s Message To Ministers

The opposition has convened twice to devise a strategy about the matter. Sonia Gandhi wrote to Prime Minister Modi this morning.

Delhi, New: After a contentious “Bharat-India” political dispute spanning nearly two days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has instructed his ministers to refrain from making any remarks on the matter. He reportedly told reporters, “Do not comment,” during a Council of Ministers meeting where the G20 and other topics were discussed.

It is said that PM Modi has not previously brought up the topic with his ministers.

In the past 24 hours, the opposition has convened twice to devise a strategy about the matter. In a letter to Prime Minister Modi this morning, former Congress leader Sonia Gandhi offered a list of nine topics that could be covered during the extraordinary session of parliament that starts on September 18.

The government has responded harshly, implying that Mrs Gandhi disregards convention, which states that the agenda does not have to be discussed prior to the start of the session.

Prior to the session starting, the leaders of all the parties gather to discuss the issues that are coming up in the Parliament after the President calls for a meeting. Work and issues are discussed.” Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi wrote.

The Opposition and the BJP have been at odds since Monday, when it was reported in the media that President Droupadi Murmu was referred to as the “President of Bharat” in her invitation to G20 leaders. The opposition has said that the ruling party is fabricating a smoke screen to divert attention away from the shortcomings in their leadership that have led to increases in prices, unemployment, and poverty. They added that the problem is also a result of the Opposition Front referring to itself as INDIA.

A top source stated today that the purpose of the extraordinary session is to address the G20 amid the political backbiting.

Meanwhile, MLC K Kavitha of Bharat Rashtra Samithi has questioned why the long-pending demand for the Women’s Reservation Bill was not mentioned in Sonia Gandhi’s letter to PM Modi. The center-state relationship, communalism, the Manipur crisis, and the border dispute with China were among the nine points raised in Mrs. Gandhi’s letter.
