Steve Jobs remembered on 68th birth anniversary

On his 68th birthday, Apple visionary Steve Jobs received global well-wishes for his groundbreaking technology and invention.

On Friday, Steve Jobs, who is remembered as the brilliant inventor who founded Apple Inc in his garage, would have turned 68 years old. On the anniversary of his birth, people reminisced about his legacy and recalled some of the most profound thoughts and words of wisdom he uttered during his lifetime.

On its website, tech giant Apple paid tribute to the legend by opening an email in his name titled’remembering Steve’ and inviting people from around the world to share their messages for Jobs, who revolutionised product development and innovation in an unparalleled manner.

A brief timeline of Steve Jobs’ journey:

Jobs was born in San Francisco on February 24, 1955, in the United States. In 1972, after graduating from high school, he enrolled at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, but pulled out within six months.

Prior to founding Apple Inc., Jobs worked for Atari, a video game manufacturer. Together with Steve Wozniak, he founded Apple, the seventh largest corporation in the world today (according to Fortune 500), in his garage in 1976. In 1980, he brought the company public and raises $110 million.

In 1985, Jobs was expelled from his position as chairman in a boardroom coup. He subsequently founded high-end computer manufacturer Next and acquired animation studio Pixar. Toy Story, the first commercial computer-animated feature film, was released in theatres in 1995.

Jobs did not return to Apple until 1997, one year after the tech behemoth acquired his company ‘Next’ While he returned to Apple as an advisor and then interim CEO at a time when the company was facing nearly $2 billion in losses, he was named CEO in 2000. Disney acquired Pixar in 2006, and Jobs became Disney’s largest single shareholder.

Prior to these events, Jobs underwent surgery in 2004 for a rare but curable form of pancreatic cancer. In August of 2011, he resigned as CEO of Apple and was elected chairman. On October 5, that year, the Apple visionary passed away at the age of 56. Although the cause of death was not specified in the death notice, he presumably succumbed to the cancer he had been battling.
