Surya Narayan Temple, Rajasthan – Wanderela

The Surya Narayan sun temple is a must-see for any traveler to Pali. This beautiful white limestone structure was originally constructed in the thirteenth century and then rebuilt in the fifteen hundred. The walls of the temple are adorned with exquisite carvings of knights, heavenly bodies, and horses.

The temple is oriented to the east and features a sanctum crowned by Chikhara. Before entering the temple proper, you’ll notice an octagonal mandap. Throughout the year, millions of worshippers from all over India make the pilgrimage to the temple to pay their respects to Lord Sun and to behold the temple’s stunning architecture.
